Our True-To-Portrait process begins with finding the most accurate historical portrait available. For Marcus Aurelius, we referenced authenticated Roman portrait sculptures created during his lifetime — the most accurate surviving record of the philosopher-emperor’s likeness.
The bust captures the full curling beard, the thoughtful slightly downward gaze, and the composed dignity of a ruler who measured himself by his philosophy. Unlike the original sculptures, we chose to add defined pupils — ancient stone carvings leave the eyes blank, but our goal is likeness to a real person, not a replica of a replica. These details are faithfully reproduced in every cast.

After casting, our expert artisans carefully inspect each piece, hand-fixing any imperfections to ensure flawless quality. They then meticulously polish and hand-paint the bust to bring out the historical figure’s unique character. The bust is finished with a standardized Charcoal Black base and thoughtfully packaged for delivery.
